Montero, Santa Cruz, Bolivia
by: Anonymous

Montero is a small city located in Bolivia's department of Santa Cruz, about 1.5 hours North of the city of Santa Cruz de la Sierra. It is surrounded mostly by farmland. Montero has a nice central plaza, a Catholic cathedral, schools, shops, banks and restaurants and several very small hotels. It also has a large open market and is a main bus stop for interdepartmental buses.

Each year Montero hosts several business and agricultural fairs such as the ExpoNorte but other than that it isn't very touristic. However, Montero is located on the highway the leads from Santa Cruz to Buena Vista, a small town that serves as one of the gateways to Amboro National Park.
