If I come to visit friends in Bolivia can I bring them cheese from Canada as a gift? Please let me know if that would be legal. Thanks

bringing cheese from canada
by: BoliviaBella

Hi Anonymous. I called an international airline in Bolivia. They informed me that you cannot bring things like fresh foods (fruit, veggies, cheese) because there are international laws that govern the possibility of propagating diseases and germs. There are cases where people bring chocolates, cookies, and baked goods and stuff because they are not fresh foods.

They also said you can't bring in cheese in jars (such as fresh mozzarella balls in water) because of the airline restrictions to 3 oz of liquids. Also no canned stuff cuz it's amount of liquids would also probably surpass the 3 oz limit. Importers of these goods need permits, certificates of origin, and other documentation for cusotms.

In short, the answer appears to be NO. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news this time. Bella.
