one way ticket or round trip ticket?

Hi, I'm going to Santa Cruz next month with a objeto determinado visa and I'll be applying for residence when I get there. The people from the Bolivian embassy tell me that I need to buy a round trip ticket even when I plan to reside there, is that correct? Is there anyone who entered Bolivia with a one way ticket? Also, what are the documents I need to take from my country to apply for the residence? Any information is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

I've never heard of anyone needing a round trip ticket to get the visa to come here and then apply for residency. I came on a one-way ticket, and so have other people I know. However, just so you know, round trip tickets often cost LESS than one-way tickets, so you might want to check out that option anyways.
