Tourist Visa for Australians
by: Rebeca

Hello, I am attorney at Law in Bolivia. I work for Expat Services from boliviabella.com

In this case, Australians can enter the country on a tourist Visa. Tourist Visa allows to stay 90 days per year.

Upon arrival in the airport, you have to indicate that you will stay 40 days. Otherwise, they will probably stamp your passport for only 30 initially. They charge for tourists Visa.

The visa de objeto determinado vs. the tourist visa
by: Anonymous

The visa de objeto determinado is only for people who will be requesting residency, working in Bolivia, or staying as long-term students (exchange students or university students who will be taking a full semester or full year of study or any term of study longer than 90 days).

Tourists do not need a visa de objeto determinado.

In the case of Australia, tourists don't need a tourist visa at all. If you plan to stay only 40 days and will be traveling during that time, and you will be studying Spanish in Sucre for only a couple of weeks or so, then you are a tourist, not a worker, resident or long-term student.

However, when you arrive at the airport, you need to be very clear with immigration upon arrival that you will be staying 40 days. Otherwise, they will probably stamp your passport for only 30.

Visa de objeto determinado
by: Willy Pena

In Australia look for a Bolivian embassy or similar and require a visa de objeto determinado. With that you can stay 30 days and also is the jump (requirement) for a student visa.

According to the Bolivian Ministry of Foreign Affairs website, Australian citizens do not need a visa to tour Bolivia. However, even citizens from countries that don't need visas, usually are given a maximum of 90 days in-country each year. This is the list of countries (Group A) that do not need visas to tour Bolivia.
