US$300 1 bedroom apartment - new - Avenida La Salle y Canal Isuto - Phone: 763-73095 - not such a long ways away

US$350 Furnished apartment - Avenida Alemana y 2do Anillo - Condominio Hamacas - 1 bedroom - Phone: 731-14445 - not so far from your school - probably 10-15 minutes in a taxi

Both are in today's paper. Haven't see either one personally.

Some ideas for you
by: BoliviaBella

Hi Paul! I recently saw over 50 houses and apartments to rent in Santa Cruz - over 50 - just in January! I've found it's really REALLY difficult to find a decent home or apartment at that price. Prices are WAY over-valued here in Santa Cruz. You may need to increase your rental budget just a little to $500 or so.

I saw several small homes in the area in which you are looking - sort of across the Canada Dry on Beni - in Urbanización Totaitú. They are small but nice homes and it's a great neighborhood. Really quiet most of the time. Some of my friends live there and have done so for years and love it. There wasn't a single one under $500 - $600 (not furnished). I also saw other ads in the CLASIFICADOS - for around the same price range.

I suggest you try a little further up the road in the Urbanización Génesis, Ciudad Jardín and El Remanso areas (Génesis is on Km 5 and Ciudad Jardín is on Km 6 entrance to the UCEBOL - straight up Avenida Banzer). I don't suggest the Andalucía apartments in that area - they are full of university students and you won't get ANY rest. I lived there for a year too. Not wise!

El Remanzo is on Km. 7 - the next major entrance. I lived there twice - once in a home I rented from a teacher who used to teach at your school :-) The houses are similar, not so small, not imperfect, but the neighborhood is OK. I has a long downhill entrance though and I do NOT recommend renting near it - because it floods when it rains.

There's an apartment (1 bedroom fully furnished in Equipetrol Norte) in the El Deber CLASIFICADOS today - you might want to check it out - it's not that bad of a trip to your school - straight down the 4th ring to Beni (or Banzer) then up (left) to the school.

The homes I saw near your school in Totaitú have already been rented out and I no longer see them advertised in the newspaper - but here's what I suggest: cruise the neighborhood and look for signs that say EN VENTA - some homeowners are more than happy to change their minds and rent - especially to foreigners cuz they have the perception that we are very responsible and always pay on time.

Paul, check back or (subscribe to my blog (or bookmark it now) cuz I'm working on something JUST for expats like us and I've got a huge surprise coming up on the site in the next few days - regarding THIS VERY TOPIC.

If you send me your email using this private form I'll give you an exclusive sneak peak!

Write back if you need anything - we're here for you!
