La Taverne Restaurant - Sucre Bolivia

After visiting Sucre in July 2011 and really enjoying the food at La Taverne Restaurant inside the Alianza Francesa in Sucre, I returned again in August. This restaurant has the most delicious food. This time around it was chicken in raspberry sauce, which my friend said was the best chicken he'd ever eaten in his life, and steak with roquefort sauce, which was also lovely. La Taverne has a lunch menu from which you get to choose a salad, soup, main course and dessert, all for just Bs. 45 - and there are several salads, soups, main courses and desserts to choose from.

The soup was a light and delicate broth with a little green onion and just a few thin noodles, the side salad was lettuce, tomato, avocado and onions served with typical French flare (think veggies cut into pretty pieces of art) and the dessert, I chose crepes, was light and delicious with just a touch of "dulce de leche" (caramel) and a sprig of what I think was "hierba buena".

As usual, the service was excellent, the portions were spot on, and the price was right. Definitely worth a visit to this restaurant any time you're in Sucre.
