How can I change the status of my Bolivia travel visa?

Hi! I´m Mexican and I´ll stay in Bolivia for two months. Now I have the specific purpuse visa but the first month is next to end. I know I can refresh this kind of visa but I need to pay another 85 usd. Money that I haven´t.

I asked about this situation in the migration office at the airport in La Paz, so they told me that I can change the status visa (to tourist) if I travel to another country and back to Bolivia again.

But now I have this question: How much time (1 day, 2 days, 1 week, 1 month, etc.) I need stay in another country (out-in to Bolivia) for do this change well?

Thanks!

You can go to Peru

Normally you only need to leave the country for the amount of time it takes for the Bolivian consulate to issue you the new visa. If you go to Peru, that would take just a few days. It would seem, however, that paying to leave the country and return (and pay hotels in the other country while you wait) will cost you a lot more than the $85 you'd pay renewing it here.
