For expat living: Sucre, Bolivia versus Cusco, Peru or Cuenca, Ecuador?

by Georgina Nunez
(Cuenca Ecuador)

Hi. I live in Cuenca Ecuador at the moment. I like it here but their is a lot of rain and clouds usually and also consider Sucre. The other factor I do not like is that the majority of the gringo's comes from Texas or Florida here, two States I do not care for, and I am European and like to live in a place with more variety of expats as far as countries and nationalities.

Where do the foreigners come from in Sucre? How much is the average cost of living there? Any cultural events happening?

Thanks for the help!

If You're Looking to Get Away from the Crowds

Consider Cochabamba.

You'll enjoy the low cost of living without the vast hordes of spanish learning gringos. I live pretty modestly, but comfortably, and rarely spend over $600 a month. Budget 800 to 1000 and you can live like a king.

The fact that tourist visas are $135 for Americans tend to ward them off a bit more than in Ecuador and Perú.
