Currency

Hi Bella: I was cleaning out my parents house and found two 1000 Boliviano bills. I have no recollection of them having ever traveled there, but anyway, I believe these are worth ~ $140 each. I can not find anyplace where I could exchange them. Not the end of the world I guess but $280 is $280. Any suggestions and thank you!

scan your currency
by: Bella

I'm told by 3 different exchange houses that they can't tell me anything about your bills (even with the serial numbers) unless they see them. Any chance you could scan and email them?

If so, contact me through the secure contact form on this page www.boliviabella.com/what-you-want.html and input your email address so I can send you my email address.

I'll ask currency exchange
by: Bella

I'll see if I can stop by an exchange house with the information you gave me and see what they have to say. Although I see someone answered with a suggestion to auction them on Ebay and who knows - you might be able to do that if they're no longer valid for exchange. Not a bad suggestion but let me find out for you first. :-)

I've seen some Bolivian currency for sale on E-Bay. You might want to try putting them on there and see if you get any offers.

Thank you!

They are Sereies C1
no. 986189
986190

The only date I see is the following phrase:

LA PAZ,
Ley DE 20 De Diciembre 1945

They certainly do not look like they are from 1945, appear much newer than that. Picture is gentleman name of Murillo? one letter (r?) blocked

1000 boliviano bills
by: Bella

Nice find! It's important to know what year they are from. There was a change in currency in the mid 1980s and if they are not bills that are currently in use, they will be completely worthless (or worth only as collector's items). Since your grandmother had them stashed away for what may have been a while, tell me what year are they from and I'll try to find out something for you.
