Bolivia has eliminated tourism visa requirements for US citizens, announcing its decision on December 1st, 2025. Americans, as well as citizens of Israel, South Korea, South Africa and several eastern European nations that had been obliged to apply and pay for Bolivian tourist visas can now enter the country with only a valid passport for stays up to 90 days. Bolivia's new president, Rodrigo Paz, is easing travel to attract more visitors at a time when there is a severe shortage of dollars in Bolivia, which has lost nearly one billion dollars in revenue since former president Evo Morales began requiring tourist visas in 2007. TAKE NOTE: If you are moving to Bolivia to live, study, volunteer, or work, you must still apply for, and enter with, a Specific Purpose Visa (Visa de Objeto Determinado) or a Student Visa, issued at a Bolivian Consulate.
