Will I acquire the right to live freely in Bolivia when my baby is born?

My unmarried partner is Bolivian and she is pregnant with my child in Bolivia. I am a UK citizen. Will I acquire the right to live freely in Bolivia when the baby is born?

What you may have heard is that when a FOREIGN woman has a baby in Bolivia, immigration extends her the right to apply for indefinite (permanent) residency without having to first go through the one-year or two-year residencies. They offer this because the baby, upon being born in Bolivia, will automatically be given Bolivian citizenship. However, she (the foreign mother) must still go through the entire application procedure for residency just like anyone else.

Men, on the other hand, are not offered this at all. And in your case, this is a moot point anyway because your girlfriend is already a Bolivian citizen and your baby also will be.

Anyhow, the point is that unfortunately, having a baby in Bolivia doesn't afford men any preferences or exceptions at immigration. Sorry.

No, I'm sorry its not that easy...you will still need to apply for residency.
