Welcome the New Year at Mariposario Guembe

by Bella
(Santa Cruz, Bolivia)

This is it for New Years 2009!

This is it for New Years 2009!

The Güembe Butterfly Sanctuary and Orchid Gardens in Santa Cruz is offering an AMAZING New Year's package at their facilities on December 31st, 2008 called ARY PYAHU (New Year in the Guaraní Language). A totally cultural experience! I think this is one of the most original, creative ways to spend New Years I've heard of in a long time!

The New Years Party will include a ceremony at the Lagoon at midnight - a Guaraní tradition to honor Iemanjá, Mother of All Waters. The cost is Bs. 600 for adults and Bs. 200 for children and will include:

Park entry fee at 8:00 p.m.
Buffet dinner at midnight
Patasca at dawn (that's a traditional Bolivian meal)
Open bar
Iemanjá ceremony at midnight
Music by “La Maga Blues”

There is also a camping package:
630.00 Bs per adult
Kids 12 años: 230.00 Bs
Which includes:
Park entry fee at 4:00 p.m.
1 night accomodations in the camping area
Buffet dinner at midnight
Patasca at dawn
Open bar
Iemanjá ceremony at midnight
Music by “La Maga Blues”
Full use of the park facilities
And checkout won't be until 6:00 p.m. on January 1st!

You can also stay at the park cabanas for 2 days and one night. For more information on that, click here: Click Here

Read all about Guembe in English here - there are tons of great photos of my favorite natural park in Santa Cruz on this page and for more information on the cabana or camping package, you can even contact the Guembé Hotel Manager - Tito Chajtur - using the secure online contact form on the bottom of this same page. He speaks English!
