US citizen tourist visa on arrival

I am flying to Bolivia tomorrow as a tourist. I have all the documents in order (round trip ticket, passport with more than 6 month validity, hotel reservation, yellow fever vaccination), and the US Department of State website says you can apply for the tourist visa on arrival.

However, this link: http://www.boliviabella.com/american-visa-bolivia-bolivia-visa-requirements-bolivia-visa-application.html says you need the visa before you arrive.

I am concerned American Airlines won't let me board the flight without the visa stamp in my passport. Has anyone had this experience?

Hey I just wanted to let you know I got through immigration no problem. They gave me my visa on arrival at the airport with no issues.

Yes, you are supposed to get the visa prior to traveling. However, there are a lot of people arriving without visas and some are reporting they are being given the visa upon arrival. Apparently because the Bolivian government has realized that not everyone is informed. Mostly this is happening at the borders. Haven't heard about whether or not they'll give you one at the airport. Probably, as long as you have all the requirements in order. Cost is $135.
