Train from Cochabamba to La Paz?
Years ago I took a fabulous train ride from Cochabamba to La Paz via Oruro. Is it still operational? If so....what is the cost and how many hours is it? Thanks.
I was told today by the train station in Oruro (tel. 591-2-527-4605) that there are no trains running from Cochabamba to Oruro or from Oruro to La Paz. Employees have no information as to whether or not (or when) train service will resume.
They told me that for the time being you can only travel by bus (or plane) from Cocha to La Paz and only by bus from Cocha to Oruro or from Oruro to La Paz.
Apparently the government has nationalized the Ferroviaria Andina train company.
