On this page we feature seasonal offerings. The National Baroque Music Festival takes place each year and is similar to the International Baroque Music Festival that attracts thousands of visitors to Bolivia (held every other year). It will take place simultaneously in numerous towns with choirs, orchestras and theater groups giving nightly performances. The baroque music schools were installed in the Jesuit Missions in the Department of Santa Cruz hundreds of years ago and continue to operate. This is your chance to experience Bolivia's Eastern cultures and their history through their music, dance and theater. We're letting you know six weeks in advance so you can make preparations now. Locals travel a lot during this week so don't wait too long! Hotels are already filling up.

Festival de Temporada - National Jesuit Missions Baroque Music and Theater Festival

THREE-DAY PROGRAM

DAY 1 Fri 28/08
At 8:00 am we will pick you up from your hotel in Santa Cruz with private transport to take you to the mission called ¨Concepción de La Virgen Maria¨ (Concepcion), founded in 1709. On the way we will see palm tree savannahs and we will stop at the Parador Las Piedras, a nice picture spot with big granite rock formations. This trip will take up to 5 hours. We will have lunch in San Javier around 12.00 noon, as it is on the way.

Check-in at a comfortable hotel in Concepción where we will spend the night.

In Concepción we will visit the church and the museum which is considered the most complete museum about the Jesuit Missions.

We will also visit the workshop galleries where artisans still work the wood using the same techniques they learned from the Jesuits and enriched with their own versions of art. They create religious images and beautiful music instruments.

Visit to an orchid farm to admire the beauty of these flowers which have become the symbol of Concepción.

Tonight at 20:30 we will enjoy our first Baroque Music concert with "Coro y Orquesta de San Rafael".

After the concert we will have our dinner and go back to our hotel where we will spend the night.

DAY 2 Sat 29/08
Today after breakfast we will continue our tour and we will drive you to the first and oldest Jesuit Mission (1691) which was founded with the name ¨San Francisco Xavier¨. The church in San Javier is one of the most authentic and well preserved of all the Jesuit churches.

After our lunch we will visit the church and its museum.

In the afternoon we will visit the Mirador "Piedra del Bibosi" (natural lookout point) and the place known as "Piedras de los Apóstoles", where the "piñocas" (native people) used to dance in honor of their god Nupayaré.

There is another concert planned for tonight with "Orquesta de cuerdas de Santa Ana"

DAY 3 Sun 30/08
After breakfast we will have our last walk in San Javier and we will buy our souvenirs. After lunch at Luigi's restaurant in San Javier we will start our way back to Santa Cruz (Approximately 4 hours - the drive itself is beautiful).

End of our services.

Tonight back in Santa Cruz, if you are interested you can also assist to the concert of the "Coro y Orquesta de Buena Vista".
