Hi Chris from Alelaide. I did a visa check using the VisaHQ.com visa requirements tool which you can find on my airlines page to see if you need a visa to come to Bolivia. Assuming you are writing from Adelaide Australia - it says you don't need a tourist visa.
Since I am American the requirements are different for me than they are for an Australian; therefore, if I were you, I would contact VisaHQ.com or the Australian consulate in La Paz, Bolivia to be sure, OK?

If you plan to move to Bolivia and request a residence visa, my understanding is that you cannot come on a tourist visa and then request residency - so be sure to tell them in detail what your exact plans are so they can provide you the correct information.
And if you are coming as a tourist, be sure to ask them "even if I DON'T need a tourist visa, is there a maximum number of days I'm allowed to stay in the country?"
