Single Southern American Lady relocate to Bolivia?

by La señora de los viajeros

I have spent much of my life traveling internationally. I am 40 and a "country girl." This will be my first time living abroad and single. I welcome wise and sage advice as to choosing this as my new home.

Single Southern American Lady relocate to Bolivia?
by: Marjorie Mindel

I came to Bolivia as a single 31-year-old lady back in 1981. Fortunately, the English Institute I was hired to teach at had a young man who did all the paperwork and running around for foreigners' bureaucratic needs.
Things have changed over the following decades, but I'd recommend finding a good lawyer to help you, one with good personnel who can help you through the maze of bureaucratic offices, regulations and paperwork.
As a country girl myself, I found it comforting to find horse-drawn carts moving through the city (Some still do.), hearing cocks crow in the early morning (They still do.), and finding green areas where one could buy a plot of land, build a house, have a garden, etc. (Nowadays, one has to go further out from the center of town, but land is still available to suit country folks.Good luck, Southern Lady, from a former Yankee lady from Connecticut.
P.S. Check out the folks at InterNations, Santa Cruz Chapter (ex-pats and friends of ex-pats).
