Rio Selva Resort is only about 20 kilometers (25 minutes) North of the city of Santa Cruz de la Sierra, and only about 12 minutes from Viru Viru airport. It’s a beautiful eco-resort hotel in the tropics of Eastern Bolivia. There are about 50 cabanas of all sizes, several large outdoor and indoor dining halls, a volleyball court, playground for kids, picnic areas, a Jacuzzi, tennis court, a spa with steam and dry saunas, game rooms, and huge swimming pool complete with water slides. The hotel also has several areas that are used for seminars and conferences of up to 180 people. The entire complex covers a 10-hectare area and is beautifully landscaped. Don’t miss a visit to the small lagoon, complete with small paddle boats.
Rooms range in price from $40 per night to $90 and include taxes and buffet breakfast. Children don’t pay for lodging or meals. Prices may vary seasonally.
There is also a Rio Selva in the southern end (Zona Sur) of La Paz and another in Pacallo (about 90 kilometers North of La Paz near Coroico).
I took these photos (of the Rio Selva in Santa Cruz) last time I was there while I was working as an interpreter at a seminar. Staff were extremely professional and very courteous. The meals were excellent and the ambiance was truly soothing. A great place to take your group for a nice break from a sterile conference room.
