Nationwide Transportation Strike to Begin June 20th in Bolivia
15 June 2011 - The Bolivian national federation of transporters concluded a meeting a few minutes ago in which the decision was made to begin an indefinite nation-wide transportation strike on Monday, June 20th. The strike will include road blocks on highways joining major cities, in protest against a recent decree passed by the Bolivian government (Decree 890) prohibiting the circulation of vehicles older than 12 years of age. Later in the afternoon a spokesperson for the government stated in a news conference that the government is willing to dialogue.
Tourists and travelers to and within Bolivia should take note that the transportation strike will include road blocks.
