The Las Palmas Hotel changed ownership just a few years ago, and since then has become one of the better choices for lodging in Santa Cruz.
If you’re not into staying at really big hotels and prefer a smaller, quieter environment, this is the place for you. Let’s face it, some people do not enjoy sharing a pool with 100 other people, huge restaurants, noisy common areas – you know, the fun resort feel others might be looking for where the staff constantly strives to entertain. Maybe you’re in Bolivia on business and need a more serious, subdued place to stay where you can retreat after meetings and get some work done. Or perhaps you plan to have such thoroughly action-packed days that you just want to make sure you get a good, deep sleep at night. While most hotels are located on the northern side of the city near nightlife hot-spots or in the heart of our busy downtown area, the Las Palmas is located just South of downtown. And although it will seem like you shut the bustling city out when you enter, it is still just 10 minutes by taxi from the city’s business center, restaurants, shopping, nightlife, and more, and within walking distance of two of the best movie theaters, many museums, and the Tahuichi soccer stadium.
This tropical-style hotel with lush gardens and soothing waterfalls has several meeting rooms, indoor and patio restaurant and bar, a business center, pool and terraces and offers free airport-hotel shuttle service. It has 38 rooms (singles, doubles, and suites), all equipped with mini-bars, cable TV, and internet connections. Ask about group rates and event planning too. The owners are continuously improving and upgrading services and are really open to comments from their guests … and nosy friends like me.
