I hope this still helps:

1--do taxi's take US money? How much is a taxi?

They don't take foreign currency, if they do, they will most likely rip you off. There are several places to exchange currency, that is not a problem at all. Even supermarkets exchange USD to BOB if you purchase anything.

2--where is the best place to get a cheap cell phone to use for only one month?

All cellphone carriers have very cheap cellphones (about $30), you just put the prepaid service and get the service within minutes. There are many places to do that in the city. Easy thing.

3--what is a fun place to take kids in Cochabamba?

There are some municipal playgrounds in the city. They are very good, better than any I saw in the US. My favorite is the "parque vial". It is very big, safe and has lots of fun things to do.

4--what is the best way to hire a translator in Cochabamba?

I'm pretty sure you can place an ad in craigslist and someone will see it. Or if already in Cochabamba, you could go to the CBA (Centro Boliviano Americano). This is an English institute, they will help you find something.
