Fashion in Santa Cruz

Santa Cruz is Bolivia's fashion and modeling capital so there are always related events going on. Bolivia has produced several very well-known designers and models as well. There are a good number of high end boutiques here, and a plethora of very talented tailors and seamstresses.

Bolivia Moda, organized by famous fashion photographer Pablo Manzoni, took place at the USA Pavillion of the Feria Exposición (fairgrounds) on May 7-9, 2008. Bolivian haute coutour designers presented their latest designs, especially women’s dresses for high society events. Area clothing stores also presented their winter clothing lines for both men and women. (Winter in Bolivia is May-August, roughly). All clothing were modeled by Pablo Manzoni’s own group of models, Las Magnificas.

Érika Weise, Keny Gutiérrez, Liliana Castellanos, Alejandra Moreno, Marcelo Rojas, Elva Nagashiro, Ingrid Hölters, Marlene Flambury are all Bolivian fashion designers that presented their latest trends. Almanza, Kosiuko, La Martina and Zap (local clothing stores) also participated.

International Fashion Week, organized by Chocho Parada and Sergio Morinigo took place at the Los Tajibos Hotel April 9-11, 2008. World-renowned brands including JLO (Jennifer López), Hugo Boss, Rock & Republic (Victoria Beckham), Diesel, Lacoste, Polo Ralph Laurent and Calvin Klein, and styles for both men and women were featured and included casual and formal wear.

Clothing was modeled by Russian model Anna Mitrokina and Argentine model Luciano Vasquez, as well as several models from the Bolivian modeling academy Supermodel.

Politicians, businesspeople, journalists and designers were invited to attend. Thirty percent of funds collected were donated to the children’s wing of the Hospital Oncológico.
