Bolivia visa for Thai citizen

by Dalad Harivarawongse

Dear Sir, I would like to ask you a question about how to get a visa for Bolivia.
I and my husband are citizens of Thailand planning to visit Bolivia on vacation and I have checked that we can get a tourist visa on arrival . However, the information is not confirmed so I would like to double check with you if this is correct or not. That is --can we get visa for Bolivia on arrival or do we have to get visa from the consulate. If we need to get visa from consulate, where and how should we arrange to do that? Since we do not have Bolivia embassy or consulate in Thailand.

I look forward to hearing your advice soon

Thank you and Best Regards,

Use the consulate locator to find a Bolivian consulate

This page contains a "locator" that you can use to search for a Bolivian consulate in a country near you. Simply click on the menu next to the word "consulados" and a list will appear of all the countries where Bolivia has consulates. Click the name of a country near you, and it will open a page with all of the contact information.

Consult a consulate in another country

You may wish to consult a Bolivian consulate in any country near you for a second opinion. See what the Bolivian cancilleria told us about that on this page:

Thank you for your comment
I saw this too but am still worrying if it would be too risky to just rely on this info. Unfortunately there is no Bolivia embassy in Thailand for me to double check and i have called other places and got different kind of information! I am quite confused now.

Tourist visa on arrival for citizens from Thailand

According to the Bolivian government's Ministry of Foreign Affairs website, citizens of Thailand (Tailandia, in Spanish) do need a tourist visa, but are not required to obtain it prior to arrival - the tourist visa will be issued upon arrival in Bolivia. This is their website. Perhaps it would be a good idea to print out their page and carry it with you.

This applies ONLY to tourist visas, and not to foreigners who will be moving to Bolivia to seek residency.
