They have to let people 16 and older do it. :)

I have looked at the volunteer page a few weeks ago but only one allowed someone my age to do it :( my interests are growin and building things. I will not go tO college as I already have a permanent job growing leanuts and cotton on my Uncle's farm. And really i can't narrow his down as i like to choose from mutliple things. And im open for anything alhough i would prefer somewhere more uban. Preferably La Paz. But anywhere urban is fine. :)

I have looked at the volunteer page a few weeks ago, but only one allows someone my age to go :( I will be going alone. I don't plan to go to college. I already ahve a long term job growing peanuts and cotton at my Uncle's farm and I will continue to do that after high school :) Really I'm open to anything so I can't really narrow anything down. But I would rather an urban-ish setting. My interests are more of growing things and building things.

I guess I would also ask you where you are from, why you have chosen Bolivia, and if you would be traveling to Bolivia alone or with family? Also, I don't believe I caught whether you are male or female. It would also be helpful to know if you are associated with a particular church, as there are several mission posts in Bolivia. Do you have any idea of what you might like to study someday when you do go to college (if it is, indeed, your plan to go to college?) This could help determine what your interests are and what could be the best experience for you. Are you thinking about being in rural areas or urban areas? Do you know anybody in Bolivia? Are you familiar with any projects or programs in Bolivia. I do apologize for all the questions, but there are many factors that go into making a volunteer experience worthwhile.

Programs for young volunteers in Bolivia

Have you contacted any of the Bolivia volunteer organizations on our Volunteer in Bolivia page to see what their stipulations are?

You don't mention whether you will be traveling alone or not. I'd venture that it would make a difference for them to know that. If you are traveling alone, you might ask them if they have any group volunteer activities you could join. At 16 you would need special permissions from your parents to travel alone through Bolivia. You'd have to ask the Bolivian consulate nearest you in the U.S. about that since you will need a travel visa to enter Bolivia (and would obtain it through the same Bolivian consulate) anyway.

More specific?
by: Tara

Hi there! I would love to help answer this question, but I was wondering if you could provide a little more information. What exactly are you looking for? Exchange student information? Peace Corps? Missionary organizations?

Thanks!
