Summary: Amaszonas is a Bolivian national airline that serves Bolivia's main cities (La Paz, Cochabamba, Santa Cruz, Sucre and Tarija) in addition to some of the smaller towns in Tarija other airlines currently don't offer flights to such as Cobija, Riberalta, Guayaramerin, Rurrenabaque, and Uyuni. In addition, as of July 16, 2012 it is adding flights to Cuzco and Arequipa, in Peru. In June 2012 it announced the purchase of four brand new aircraft and the upcoming addition of numerous new routes. We'll keep you informed.

Airline Information

Amaszonas is a national airline in Bolivia with operations that include charter services and flights to some of the more remote destinations in Bolivia and some smaller cities not currently covered by larger airlines. True to the play on words in its name (a mas zonas, meaning “to more zones”) the airline flies between La Paz, Santa Cruz, and Cochabamba, and from there covers mostly northern destinations in Bolivia’s Amazonas (the country's rainforest region).

This small but growing airline is modern and offers very competitive prices. In addition, on its website it offers special discounts for which it has contracted with area hotels and restaurants. There is no self-check in or curb-side check in for this airline at airports in Bolivia. It operates out of El Trompillo national airport in Santa Cruz.

Always check with the airline and/or your travel agent prior to your trip concerning issues such as government and baggage restrictions (they differ at various times throughout the year); flight delays; and any special assistance you might need during your flight or upon arrival.

Bolivian airports are small, very basic and limited in terms of the services provided. Only Santa Cruz and La Paz have customs and immigration offices.
