Age requirements for drivers' license for car or motorcycle?

What is the age requirement for driving a car in Bolivia? Is it the same for a motorcycle or scooter? Thanks.

Hi. Officers at "Transito" (the police station responsible for everything having to do with traffic) tell us you must be 18 years of age to get a drivers' license for both motorcycles and cars.

You'll need to take a Driver's Education course. They last 2 weeks and typically cost about Bs. 80 (just over $10) after which you take a test.

If you pass the course you can apply for a license. There are several requirements for this application.

Expat Services can help you go through the process, or you can visit Transito located between the 2nd and 3rd rings on Avenida Santos Dumont (across from the really big Hipermaxi). Their phone number is 352-5668. They are very helpful, but don't speak English.
