Are There Any Known Acai Side Effects?
Acai side effects are virtually nill! Several universities have done research on possible risks or negative side effects of acai berries and have determined that the reason that side effects are not talked about in the media or online is that there don't seem to be many risks or unhealthy effects at all! People in fact generally report only an increase in energy and feelings of wellbeing, and a decrease in appetite.
My personal experience: I've been drinking acai juice for years and also take 1 tablespoon of acai pure powder each day. Initially when I began adding the powder to my (several cups of) tea each day I actually DID notice an elevated heart rate and some shortness of breath. Then my doctor, an expert in tropical medicine, told me in its powdered form it's more potent. But he also told me tea has tons of caffeine! So I've cut down to 1 tablespoon a day and 2 cups of tea and I feel great!
Http://acaiberrysite.com states "One minor complication that has been reported is for people with pollen allergies, who may find that their condition is aggrevated somewhat by acai berries as reported here. The number of reports has been very small and the symptoms have been minor, but is something that should be noted. As always if you are unsure about your reaction to acai berry then talk to a medical doctor or nutritionist."
Information on acai side effects is not as readily available as most of the data online is on the health benefits of acai berries. However, every person's body is different so it's to be expected that each individual will react differently as with any other food or supplement.
The side effects people may experience will, of course, also depend on the type of acai berry juice or other product they are using and the quantities they ingest each day. Nothing is healthy in extremes, not even pure acai or the most healthy acai berry supplement available.
If you study the ingredients contained in acai berries and you know how healthy you are, if you have any allergies, and how your body reacts to those ingredients, you can better judge whether or not acai berries will cause you any negative side effects. In general the health benefits of acai berries by far outweight any possible negative effects, but we're all responsible for our own bodies so it's up to us to read the available acai berry research and decide which acai berry benefits are to our personal advantage or and which are not.
Be careful about the amounts you ingest. This will also depend on the type of product you are using. In its pure or powdered form acai is very concentrated. When mixed with other products, such as in mixed juices, you may actually have to ingest a lot in order to see any benefits at all. So read labels, talk to your doctor, and above all if you decide to take acai berry supplements start out slowly and be aware of any physical or emotional changes that take place. If you feel unwell in any way stop taking it immediately.
