3rd International Certified Wood Sculptors Encounter in Santa Cruz
The 3rd International Certified Wood Sculptors Encounter is taking place in Santa Cruz and will end on October 15th. This is an initiative of Manzana 1 Espacio de Arte, the most visited art gallery of Santa Cruz, located behind the cathedral on the central plaza.
During this one-week encounter sculptors from various countries sculpt tree trunks throughout the day. Visitors can watch them transform them into works of art "live" and can interact with the sculptors.
The objective is to allow the public to interact with the artist out in the open, while promoting forest conservation.
This year's guest artists are:
Claudio Gomez (Argentina)
Agapito Céspedes (Bolivia)
Abel Marquez y Liliana Zapata (Bolivia)
Verónica Astaburuaga (Chile)
Mauricio Guajardo (Chile)
José Pablo Arriaga (Spain)
Masahiko Ikeda (Japan)
The sculptures produced during this encounter will be donated to the city for permanent exhibition along with sculptures from the first 2 encounters in the Certified Forest Walkway located on the 3rd ring and Canal Isuto.
